Description

This was a group project completed as a part of the Interactive Information Design Course requirements in the Capilano University’s Interactive Design Program. We were tasked to create a proposal for redesigning BCFerries.com to improve usability of the website. From our content audit and sitemap, we identified 5 major user groups: general travellers, commercial travellers, community‐interest group, corporate users and employees.

Our wireframes focus on UX for general travellers. The existing website is overly complex and its content was not intuitively organized. We proposed to remove redundant content and prioritized content based on user needs. In particular, the Travel Centre underwent a complete overhaul. Information about routes, schedules, fares and reservations (~50 pages of information) has now be condensed into the 5‐step Travel Centre widget. Major changes have also been made to the current conditions section and the overall site navigation system.
